
Higgins Electric Supports Children’s Miracle Network Sacred Heart Hospital

On May 17, 2011, Higgins Electric participated in the “Log A Load For Kids” golf tournament at Chipley, Florida’s Sunny Hills Golf Course. The mission of the “Log A Load For Kids” program is to raise funds to improve children’s health through treatment, education, and research at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The employees of Higgins Electric quickly saw the need to support this cause. “This tournament was a great experience and we feel fortunate to be able to support this great cause,” said Higgins Electric Sales Team Member, Derek Sinquefield. The conclusion to this event rendered Higgins Electric the tournament winners. Keith Crews, Higgins Electric’s Automation Manager, said the following about winning the tournament. “We are grateful for the opportunity to compete in this charitable tournament, but the real winners are all the children that will benefit from donations.”

Higgins Electric is Presented with State Safety Award
Higgins Electric has been presented with an award for remaining accident free in 2010 and setting an example for other companies operating in the State of Alabama. This award was presented by the Alabama Self-Insured Workers Compensation Fund and Employer’s Claim Management Inc.
“It is an honor and a privilege to receive this honor. We work all year to keep our employees safe and working hard for our customers. They understand how important that is and it shows,” Said Higgins Electric Sales Manger, Gary Granger.

Higgins Electric sponsors the "Bread of Life" Lifetime Achievement Award In Honor of Mr. Tommy Ricketts and In Memory of Mr. Frank Martin.
On Monday, March 14, 2011, Dothan’s Rotary Club held the presentation of the Wiregrass Food Bank’s Bread of Life Lifetime Achievement Award. The present year’s recipients are also the individuals which the award is dedicated. The award was presented to Mr. Tommy Ricketts and the family of Mr. Frank Martin.
This Bread of Life Lifetime Achievement Award is sponsored by Higgins Electric and its recipients are chosen according to many criteria. The awards recipient must exemplify the spirit of community service, make an outstanding contribution to the community, serve as a role model for others in the community, and inspire others to engage in volunteerism.
“Mr. Ricketts and Mr. Martin are shining examples of excellence in community service. They have done so much for Dothan and this is one small way we can show our appreciation,” Higgins Electric Sales Manager Gary Granger said.
Mr. Tommy Ricketts has served as chairman on many Dothan area organizations such as Red Cross, Dothan Rotary, Dothan Area Botanical Gardens, and the Wiregrass Area United Way Food Bank. Mr. Ricketts and Mr. Martin help found the Wiregrass Area United Way Food Bank in 1990. Mr. Frank Martin embodied the charitable spirit of many Dothan Area organizations, such as, Wiregrass United Way, The Salvation Army, Wallace College Foundation Board, and the Wiregrass Area United Way Food Bank.
“These two individuals (Mr. Ricketts and Mr. Martin) have made lasting impact on the lives of so many people. They have given us a sense of inspired purpose and taught us to be selfless so that we can be a part of something larger than ourselves,” said Wiregrass Area United Way Food Bank President David Hanks.
